Location
On booking with Ballathona Farm we will send you a detailed map plus directions from Ronaldsway Airport and the Sea Termial in Douglas.
Ballathona Farm, although secluded, is only seven minutes drive to the village of Andreas which offers a traditional country pub with excellent traditional pub food. There is a local shop with newspapers and all other essentials you may need.
Twelve minutes drive away is the Isle of Man's second town, Ramsey. With its lovely harbour, Ramsey still retains the feeling of a coastal fishing town. |

Ramsey has a number of places to eat with some great pubs, cafe’s and restaurants available. Ramsey also harbours a number of small interesting shops on it’s old fashioned high street selling antiques, clothing, jewellry, homewares, etc. There are also two good sized supermarkets, a swimming pool and The Mooragh Park which plays host to a local weekly produce market.
For public transport, Ramsey’s bus station is served by routes to all main towns and villages on the Isle of Man. The Manx Electric Railway Station in Ramsey has original Tramcars dating back over 100 years old which will take you on the most wonderful scenic route to Laxey where you can connect to the Mountain Railway or continue on to Douglas.
From the Douglas tram station you can catch the promenade horse drawn trams and further into Douglas you will find the old Steam Trains running to the south of the Isle of Man.
(Note - Trams and Steam Trains are seasonal)

The Lhen
The hamlet where Ballathona Farm is located offers wonderful coastal and inland walks. A paradise for Bird Watchers and people interested inwild flowers and animals. The Northern Plain of the north west of the Isle of Man was carved out in the ice age and from our farm you can see the Northern Hills and Snaefell Mountain where the ice sheets finished. The natural surrounding beauty also captivated one of the Island's most famous residents, Sir Norman Wisdom, who has a home in the Lhen close to our farm. Ballathona farm enjoys breathtaking sunsets, views of rolling farmland and on a clear day the view continues past the sea to the Mull of Galloway and Luce Bay.
We are lucky to live on this wonderful island and even luckier to live in this secluded part of the north west coast with its unspoilt scenery. Whilst the north west plains enjoy remarkable weather there are the occaisional gales, especially in winter so don’t expect to keep your hat on during the odd rough day. It’s all part of the charm of Ballathona Farm and we hope that when you stay you will be captivated by the Isle of Man and especially Ballathona Farm.
