Island’s top self–catering
properties strike gold

Six self-catering properties have been recognised for their exceptional service and quality.
They were awarded gold accolades by independent assessors from UK body Quality in Tourism, part of VisitBritain.
The award is in addition to their star grading but shows that the proprietors have gone above and beyond expectations with their quality, cleanliness and their standard of service and hospitality.
The award-winning businesses were John and Shirley Kneale, for Thie Rhennie and Thie Lough near Ballaugh (four star); Andrew and Kathryn Scarlett, for Ballakerkey Cottage in Glen Maye (four star); Ian Fairbairn, for The Hayloft, in Ballasalla (5 star); Paul and Gill Fisher, for Ballathona Farm Cottage, in Andreas (4 star); and Fiona Anderson, for Knockaloe Beg Farm Cottage, in Patrick (4 star).
They will be presented with a sign to display at their premises.
Tourism and Leisure Minister Martyn Quayle said: ‘The Gold accolade award scheme is a fantastic way of supporting and encouraging property owners to achieve high standards of service for our visitors.’
‘We are delighted that such a high number of premises on the Island have achieved this prestigious award and I wish to congratulate each and every one of these accommodation providers for their dedication and hard work.’
He added: ‘These establishments represent the best standards of quality and service for the hospitality industry and the department looks forward to more hotels, B&B’s and self-catering accommodation proprietors receiving similar recognition in the future.’ |
